Our planet is “burning.”
Ocean temperatures are rising, and with them, land temperatures continue to climb. In particular, the last two decades have been defined by increasingly severe natural and climate-related disasters – ranging from catastrophic floods and prolonged droughts to devastating wildfires and violent storms – that unfortunately are only growing in both frequency and intensity.
This development is not an isolated challenge but a global crisis that threatens ecosystems, infrastructure, and human livelihoods across continents. Entire regions are already experiencing the social and economic consequences: coastal communities battling rising sea levels, agricultural areas suffering from shifting weather patterns, and cities struggling with extreme rainfall and heatwaves.
So, the urgent question is: what do we do together, moving forward, to significantly strengthen our ability to protect ourselves against future disasters?
